The Team Event Design Sprint

Our Design Thinking approach to creating more impactful team events.

Does this sound familiar?

  • Your annual onsite or offsite is fun, but not impactful. You want to use it more strategically and to have measurable results to show your impact.
  • Your internal events feel disjointed. You want to use them to communicate key messages and address team health issues.

  • But you don’t have the time to gather insights from the team and/or don’t know where to start.

How we help

Our Team Event Design Sprint helps you align company events around who and what they’re meant to serve: your team and your business goals.

Decide to focus on an individual event (like a company onsite) or zoom out and create a more connected and impactful experience across all your internal events.

In both cases our approach is guided by the ‘Double Diamond’ Design Thinking Methodology:
  • We use interviews and a survey to discover your needs.
  • We examine patterns to define the key impact areas.
  • We create a tailored event design to drive that impact.
  • We provide ongoing support to help your team deliver.

How our Team Event Design Sprint Works

DISCOVER: A Kick-Off with the Core Team

We start the Sprint with a kick-off with the core team. The goal here is to understand your broader goals as a company, to learn about the team health and communication issues that might be holding you back, and to hear about the impact you'd like to have with your event(s).

DISCOVER: Team Interviews

Based on the input we receive in the Kick-Off, we'll develop an Interview Question Set and will align with you on 5-8 team members to speak to. Depending on the scope of the project, interviewees could include your executive leadership team, team leaders, and individual contributors.

These interviews set the foundation for a people-first team event approach and usually surface surprising insights.

DISCOVER: Team Survey

We also recommend using a survey to gather input from the wider team. Depending on the scope, this can either be the team health survey you already administer or a one-off survey centered on events.

DEFINE: Team Event Impact Areas

After the Discovery Phase, we'll report back to the Core Team with the insights we've collected and defined. Based on these insights, together we'll define the right impact areas for your event(s).

DESIGN: An Overarching Theme for Your Event(s)

Guided by the impact areas we've defined together, we’ll propose an overarching theme for your event(s) that supports storytelling and activates an emotional layer.

DESIGN: Event Architecture

Depending on the scope of the project, we'll propose an architecture for your event(s). This could look like:

  • An Event Calendar that connects your internal events across the year
  • An Evergreen Event Agenda that defines how time will be used for a team onsite or offsite
DESIGN: Blueprints for Event Formats

We’ll create tailored event formats that are in line with the impact areas and which reflect your company culture. Based on the scope of the project, these could be:

  • Tweaks to your existing team events
  • Tailored Onsite Sessions
  • Asynch Games and Activations

We'll gather your feedback on the suggested formats and make adjustments until you're happy with the results.

DELIVER: Free Office Hours After the Sprint

After the Design Stage, our team will hand the project over to your team for delivery. To ensure the success of the project, your team will have access to free Office Hours throughout the duration of the delivery period. Whether you need a sparring partner or a second set of eyes: we’re here for you!
